Cougar Sighting in Anmore

Let Sleeping Cats Lie.

This is a precautionary warning.  We do live in Anmore so the sighting of coyotes, bears, deer, and even bobcats and cougars shouldn’t be alarming.  A cougar sighting is quite rare in Anmore, although we do hear of a few sightings each year.

Anmore Elementary School sent out a notice to parents today that there had been a report of a cougar in the Mountain Ayre area.  The children would be reminded of the warning sound to listen for if children are to return to the inside of the school during recess time.

Mountain Ayre is located at the end of Thompson Road close to Mossom Creek.  The Mossom Creek watershed is a very wild (and wonderful) area with many opportunities to view wildlife both big and small.  The sighting took place at night 2 days ago.  Apparently the cougar was sitting in someone’s front driveway until it noticed it was being watched and wandered off into the bush.
