An Affirmation of our Anmore Community Spirit – the Great Turnout for our Spirit Park Cleanup

These spring beauties were donated by Garden Club members in previous years.

This is the sort of event that makes us proud to live in Anmore.

On Sunday 13 June, over 45 people dug into the gardens at the Spirit Park Cleanup. What great community spirit! And we had fun, too!

“Ooh – how are we going to make a dent in this mess?” was a common first reaction when looking at the heavily overgrown garden beds. But by 4:00 p.m., we had accomplished a bit of a miracle. Many perennial plants, some rock edging and a bench now stood without weedy competition.

To everyone who helped with this event, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Thanks to Glenna Barron for creating the eye-catching posters and to Eny Hoffer for getting them printed and posted, and thanks to everyone who encouraged others to come to the cleanup event. Thanks to Candice Davidson and Eny Hoffer for organizing, cooking and serving the great array of food and thanks to the Village for covering the cost of the food.

We would also like to thank those who worked in the Spirit Garden or helped in other ways (with sincere apologies for any omissions or misspellings):
Karen Mclaren – Pam Blackman – Tracy, Ella and Lucas Green – Paul and Holly Koit - Candice Davidson - Linda Weinberg – Michelle Goodwin – Aleksander and Mitchel Polanske – Ted and Leigh Ann Littlewood  - Lori Bennett – Kian Kreitzkse-Bennett – Nancy Maloney – Bruce Landon – Deb, Hans and Tara Beuk – Jody and Melissa Cooke – Marcia Hurley – Vladislav Kouchnarev – Sofia and Robert Sweet – Connie Fish – Glen and Geric Coutts – Morgan and Sandy Weverink – Kerri and Lili Isaak – Heather, Kaden and Kiara Anderson – Leslie Hannigan – Paulette Strim – Cheryl Winterbottom – Michelle Obedzinski – Eny Hoffer - Nancy Knaur

If youu didn’t make it to this cleanup (we know that this is a busy time of year for many of you), the Garden Club is considering making this an annual event, so you may have a chance to help in the future.
Thank you once again,

The Anmore Garden Club

P.S. We have two trowels that were left at the park cleanup and are looking for their owners. Contact Holly at hollykoit@hotmail.com to get them.
