ANMORE TIMES – 1991

By Linda Weinberg

In December 1991, the Anmore Times Team members, Joanne Philley, Jan Morrissey, Holly Butterfield, Ruth Schenker and Carol Scarrat wished everyone “a Country Christmas.”

By the end of 1991, the Mayor, Pam Blackman was looking forward to bringing community water to residents of East Road. Karen Cobb and Don Brown had been the only employees until Gary Morrissey was hired that year to “…take over the maintenance of roads and ditches, building inspections, upkeep of the water system and take care of the village Hall and grounds.” The Mayor was pleased that the only bylaws passed in the year were those,  “…regarding budgets; works and services and regulatory and operational matters.” Her opinion was that “the fewer bylaws, the better”, and that issues around enforcement would be generated by too many bylaws.

In 1991, the process of incorporating the watershed lands for Anmore Creek and Mossum Creek into Anmore’s borders was completed.

What else, was happening in 1991: Well the Council was composed of members:

Harry Anderson        Walt Cadman      Jim Jones               Herb Mueckel

And: Heather Anderson was writing the Council minutes for the Anmore Times

A Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to everyone.
